I remember back to when I was young and my mom would wallpaper our house floor to ceiling. She would mix small prints, flowers and checker patterns in every room of the house ~ it was a creative outlet for her. However the process of redecorating (removing the wallpaper) turned me away from wallpaper for many years. But things have changed, I'm finding myself drawn back to wallpaper...

The technology of wallpaper
has changed. Wallpaper manufacturers have been fighting hard for
years to educate us on the ease of hanging and removing wallpaper and
I think it's time we start re-evaluating. There are so many amazing
artists & designers creating fantastic prints that inspire me to
want to wallpaper my whole house ~ however my
current budget does not allow this... So how can I incorporate
wall-coverings without breaking my decorating budget??
Accent walls or
small nooks covered in wallpaper can go a long way to bringing
interest and creating focal points to just about any space within the
home or office. Contemporary wall-coverings have large prints that
can add drama, romance, colour or energy to any room. They are
created using traditional vinyls to glass beads & sand,
3-dimensional textures (feathers and flowers, bamboo and woven papers) to visual textures. There is no end to options available!!
Here are some tips for integrating wall-coverings as an accent,
making it affordable and fun:
- Incorporating wall-coverings on a focal point wall ie. behind your couch or behind your TV and painting the rest of the room a complimentary or harmonious colour could give your living room the interest it's been lacking.
- Creating a nook in your front entrance with a soft, feminine print, a mirror and wingback chair to set a tone of peace and rest within your home. Or a large, bold print with a contemporary chair and an abstract sculpture to set a tone of creativity and sophistication within your home.

stir your inner creativity and start to dream about how you can
create an intentional atmosphere within your home by utilizing
wallpaper. Look at the textures, dimensions, colours, sheens and
prints. How do they make you feel? Romantic, feminine, dramatic,
sophisticated, dynamic, creative, inspired, restful, calm, energized,
playful, whimsical, artistic?
